About this recipe: I found these beautiful butterfly prawns at a coffee shop & went home to experiment cutting & decorating it after that. The pattern is nice especially when you've guests. Check out this simple & delicious dish for this Chinese New Year!

blackswan North Region, Singapore

Serves: 3 

  • ½ kg Medium Prawns
  • 1 tsp Abalone sauce
  • 1 tsp Sesame Oil
  • 2 tsp Chinese wine
  • 1 tsp minced Ginger
  • 1 tsp minced Garlic
  • 3 sprigs Spring Onion (chopped)

Prep:10min  ›  Cook:3min  ›  Ready in:13min 

  1. Choose prawns with roes. Cut off sharp edge & feelers; devein prawns & rinse.
  2. To make butterflies, cut prawns into half leaving tail intact. Be careful not to lose the roes. Marinade with ginger & seasonings & arrange neatly on a plate. Top with garlic & spring onions.
  3. Cover plate loosely with plastic wrap & microwave using Steam mode. If you don’t not have auto mode, microwave for about 2-3 mins or until prawns turn pink & you're ready to serve your Butterfly Prawns.
