Bobby's Mango and Chilli Burgers

    Homemade beef burgers with a tangy and spicy flavour.

    Serves: 8 

    • 2 medium red onions
    • 2 eggs
    • 1kg lean minced beef
    • 2 slices of bread, preferably white, processed into bread crumbs
    • Handful of fresh finely chopped coriander
    • 2 teaspoons of finely chopped dried chilli
    • 2 tablespoons of mango chutney
    • 2 tablespoons of mild chili powder
    • 1 tablespoon of vegetable stock powder
    • 1 tablespoon of steak sauce
    • Splash of Worcestershire sauce
    • Salt & pepper to taste
    • Oil for frying

    1. Roughly chop onions & place in large saucepan or bowl.
    2. Add both eggs to the onion & blend together, using hand mixer, until smooth.
    3. Add beef & breadcrumbs, mix with a wooden spoon, then blend well with mixer.
    4. Add all other ingredients and mix well.
    5. Scoop out a medium handful of the mixture and roll into a ball, and then pat down into a disc shape.
    6. Heat oil in a fry pan, or lightly oil barbecue plate, and cook patties on both sides till cooked to your preference.
    7. Serve in a plain roll, with cheese, thinly sliced onion, tomato, beetroot and lettuce - or any salad combination you like.

    These burgers taste lovely, but i found the recipe to be too wet and the burgers broke when i was frying them. Think either just add one egg or add more breadcrumbs next time.  -  14 Aug 2011  (Review from Allrecipes UK | Ireland)
