Moowookuk (Beef & Radish Soup)

    This is a simple and clean tasting Korean soup for the whole family.

    Serves: 6 

    • 500g (1 pound) radish (half of medium size radish)
    • 250g (.5 pound) lean beef
    • 1 teaspoon (5ml) sesame oil
    • 2 teaspoons crushed garlic
    • 2 teaspoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
    • 8 cups (2l) water
    • 1 block of beef stock
    • or 1/4 teaspoon Dashida (dried fish powder)
    • 4 green onions, cut at a slant 2 inches long

    1. Peel radish and cut into 1 inch square thin slices.
    2. Cut the beef into small pieces and put in a medium size soup pot. Add sesame oil and garlic. Sauté beef until well cooked. Add the radish and sauté another 5 minutes.
    3. Add water, salt, black pepper and beef stock (or Dashida) cook for 30 minutes.
    4. Lastly, add the green onion.
