Beef steak

    This is easy to do. A tender cut of beef is sliced thin and marinated with lemon juice and soya sauce for at least an hour or longer.

    Serves: 6 

    • 2 kg New York or prime rib steak
    • 1 lemon
    • 3 tbsp soya sauce
    • salt and pepper to taste
    • 1 tsp sugar
    • 1 tbsp corn flour
    • 65 ml vegetable oil for frying
    • 3 tbsp olive oil
    • 1 medium onion
    • 2 cloves garlic

    1. Slice the beef into 3 chunks. Slice chunks crosswise to make thin pieces. Place in a mixing bowl.
    2. Squeeze lemon juice over the steak, add soya sauce and sugar. Add salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle with corn flour. Mix completely and marinate 1 hour or longer.
    3. In a large frying pan, heat vegetable oil. In batches, pan fry the meat on both sides to desired done-ness. Set aside on a serving platter.
    4. Saute onion and garlic in olive oil until onion is golden and translucent. Pour over the meat. Serve hot.
