Indonesian Fruit Salad (Rujak Buah)

    Rujak buah is a traditional fruit salad with peanut sauce. Usually we use tropical fruits to make it or we can substitute with other fruits if we do not have them.

    • 1 cucumber
    • 1 apples
    • 1 pears
    • 1 nectarines
    • 1 mango, peeled
    • 1 small pinepple, peeled
    • 1 jikama , peeled
    • Sauce ingredients
    • 100 g of roasted peanut
    • 100 g of palm sugar
    • 1 red chilli
    • a pinch of salt
    • 1/4 tsp of shrimp paste (if you desire it)
    • 50 ml of water


    1. Cut fruit into slices.
    2. With a mortar and pestle, beat all the sauce ingredients into a smooth sauce.
    3. Add sliced fruits into mortar and toss to mix well or place all the cut fruits in a large salad bowl, drizzle the sauce over them and toss to coat well.
    4. Alternatively, place all the cut fruit in large plate and then dip the fruit to the sauce.
