About this recipe: A typical type of food well known in my city in Klang, Malaysia. Chinese people have it for breakfast normally and lunch.

  • 500g Pork (Slice or Cube)
  • 500g Chicken (Slice or Cube)
  • I packet of bah kut teh spices and herbs (available in major supermarket or pharmacy
  • 300 g of chinese mushroom ( wash and soak in hot water)
  • Few pieces of dong quai (available in chinese pharmacy)
  • 2 liter of water
  • Salt, pepper and soy sauce to taste
  • 20 cloves of garlic (chop)


  1. Put the water to boil (2 liter) for one hour with the packet of bah kut teh herbs and spices. Add garlic and dong quai too.
  2. After boiling for an hour, you will smell the herbs and then put in the pork and chicken which you had marinated with salt, pepper and soy sauce.
  3. Then bring to boil for half an hour with the meat and add in the mushroom after the meat is tender and boiling for half and hour already.
  4. Now with he mushroom boiling for 15 minutes to half an hour depending on the herbs portion then server with garlic rice.
