Mui Fan / Hui Fan (烩饭)

    Mui Fan is one of my favorite dishes! I remember where I used to go to school, there was this stall with awesome Mui Fan. So I tried to replicate it here!

    • 1.5 cups rice
    • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
    • 50g sliced lean pork
    • 1 cuttlefish, sliced
    • 1 fishcake, sliced
    • 3 tbsp cornflour
    • 5 tbsp water
    • 2 eggs


    1. In a rice cooker, cook the rice with the appropriate amount of water as per the rice cooker instructions.
    2. Fry the garlic in a hot oiled pan under medium heat until it starts to brown.
    3. Add in the lean pork slices and stir-fry until it loses its pinkness.
    4. Add in the cuttlefish and fishcake.
    5. Quickly mix the cornflour and water together until dissolved and pour into the pan. Mix well to combine.
    6. Crack the eggs into the pan and stir quickly to break up the eggs into slivers. Stir for 45 seconds or so. Remove from pan and pour onto the rice. Serve.
