An excellent chunky pasta sauce with beef, pork, lots of vegetables and tons of flavor. Freeze any unused portions for later use. If you have fresh herbs, you may substitute 2 teaspoons chopped fresh italian basil for the dried Italian basil in this recipe.

Garlic sauteed in butter, then simmered with anchovies and cream. If you love garlic, you will love this. My husband doesn't like it because it has too much garlic for him! It is an Italian dipping sauce that you eat as a main course. It is very soupy. You can eat it with Chinese cabbage, green capsicum and/or Italian bread. I got the recipe from my mother several years ago; she told me that it was an old Italian dish. We are not Italian, but it has been in my family for a couple of generations!

Pieces of lamb are marinated in garlic, oil, and red wine vinegar, then threaded on rosemary skewers and barbecued. A creamy, herby sauce of Greek yoghurt, fresh mint, oregano and parsley complement these kebabs nicely!

This recipe is a homemade spaghetti meat sauce that has been passed down to 4 generations of Sicilians. The recipe has been altered by each person to fit personal preference and taste. Fresh tomatoes can be put in the place of the puree but not recommended, due to the high acidity of the fresh tomatoes.

This is a very loved recipe from my Italian heritage and childhood. Have a nice Italian loaf or french baguette on hand to soak up the delicious sauce. It's a great way to use any leftover eggs from Easter.

This is a delicious simple sauce which goes with anything. You can have it plain over pasta or make lasagna with it. You can make ziti or spaghetti and meatballs (just cook the meatballs in the sauce - it will take longer) or anything you can think of. It makes good, slightly too bland, pizza sauce. You can triple the batch and freeze it in jars.

An authentic Italian recipe and a welcome change to the predominantly acidic tomato sauce served in the States.

These delicious meatballs get even better the next day and my whole family loves them. They are great to make ahead of time because they taste even better after they have been left to rest for a while to soak up the sauce. I sometimes make this at lunchtime and let it cool and then reheat for dinner. Serve them on their own or as a sauce with pasta.

A simple, slow cooked, authentic spaghetti sauce, as good as the restaurants serve...or better! The secret ingredient is bicarbonate of soda, but do not taste the sauce right after adding it. Wait a while, and this sauce will not disappoint you. It is good right from the stove, but the flavors blend overnight. Best served with your favourite meatball recipe, where the meatballs cook in the sauce the last half hour. Be prepared to take a nap after eating.

This very light, fresh dressing works equally well on mixed greens, spinach or romaine, or just drizzled over sliced, fresh, ripe summer tomatoes and fresh Italian basil leaves. Quick and easy to make fresh, but stores well for up to 3 months in the refrigerator. It's a family recipe brought over from the old country by my nonna (grandma.)
