This Nonya braised pork dish is delicious eaten with rice. It also tastes good the next day when all the flavours have melded together. I also use the leftover meat and sauce for a sandwich using a baguette and garnish it with some chopped cilantro, tomatoes and cucumber. Yummy!

Easy to make and utterly delicious, with a thick, crunchy, cinnamon topping over apple slices coated in dark brown sugar.

This dish uses a classic Thai preparation method of protein. It might not sound like much, but it's a very satisfying dish, especially made with shrimp that's shell-on. We eat the shrimps shell and all, as to not miss out on any flavor. It's also a very kid-friendly dinner dish.

This coconut rice dish is typically served at breakfast but depending on how heavy the side dishes are, can be a complete meal for lunch or dinner. The traditional accompaniments are sliced cucumbers, egg: either hard-boiled or small omelette slice, roasted dry peanuts, fried anchovies and a sambal. For a heavier meal it can be served with different curries, rendang and sambals.

These spring rolls are really healthy and not fried, and delicious with the dipping sauces. Well worth the effort - these are fantastic.

Pho (pronounced fur) is a Vietnamese fragrant beef noodle soup. It is perfect for lunch or dinner with friends because each person can add their own accompaniments to taste.

This is a simple main course to impress your friends with. It does not take long to make and is very filling. For a big eater, I could only manage 1½ of these. If you are hosting for light eaters, you might consider cutting them in half after they are cooked. Mashed potatoes complements it very well, along with asparagus, roasted sweet potatoes or risotto.
