Bubur means porridge in Malay and this is a sweet dessert "porridge" from the Nonya heritage. For me, it is best eaten at room temperature although it can also be served hot or chilled.

An all-time Philippine favorite. The creamy and sticky texture makes this recipe an irresistible one. Use any type of semi-soft or hard grated cheese, such as cheddar, that suits your taste.

This cake is soooo good and moist you should make two...that way you can be sure to get some. I take it to work and it disappears really fast. I sometimes ice it with some coconut essence-flavoured cream cheese icing and then sprinkle coconut all over the top but it's also fine plain!

I found this recipe that reminds me of panna cota but with a traditional twist using coconut milk and green pea flour. The flour gives this recipe its firmness so you may have to adjust the quantity depending on your taste but it has to be firm enough to mold.

This an ingenious way of making a custard without using an oven, or even ramekins. The custard is steamed in a small pumpkin, so that when it is ready to serve, you simply cut the pumpkin into wedges showing the wonderful layering of the pale custard and orange pumpkin.

This hearty dessert is very easy to make. The recipe calls for soaking the sweet potato in hydrolyzed lime water. If you can't find lime powder, you can skip this step, but the sweet potato will be soft and the sauce will be very thick.

You can make this dessert as complicated as you want it. The recipe calls for certain fruits and sweets to put on top of shaved ice, but you can use whatever is available to you. You can use lychees, pineapple, mango chunks or whatever is in season and in your market. This is a very refreshing dessert on a hot day or after a spicy meal.

This recipe uses agar agar and eggs to make a lovely jelly that has a slight custardy texture. The great thing about this recipe is that it does not require careful steaming, it is a surefire success every time.

This is a very rich curry of beef stewed in coconut milk and massasan curry paste, studded with potatoes, peanuts and carrots. The flavor emphasis is on sweet and sour, rather than super spicy. Massaman curry paste can be found in most Thai fresh markets, or just ask the beef butcher where to find it.
