Sweet & sour pork

    This is a dish the children like because it is sweet and the pork is deep-fried. I would fry the pork till very crispy.

    • 400g pork shoulder, cut into chunks
    • 3 tsp light soy sauce
    • 1 tsp sesame oil
    • A dash of pepper
    • ½ cup cornflour
    • A pinch of salt
    • 1 onion, sliced
    • 1 red pepper, sliced
    • 1 green pepper, sliced
    • 125 ml tomato sauce
    • ½ tsp sugar
    • 1.5 tsp vinegar


    1. Marinate the pork slices in light soy sauce, sesame oil and pepper for about 1 hour.
    2. Coat the pork slices in cornflour and fry in deep fryer until golden brown.
    3. Oil a saucepan and fry the onion and both peppers under medium heat until fragrant.
    4. Add the tomato sauce, sugar and vinegar. Mix well to combine. Place the pork slices back into the saucepan. Toss well to coat. Serve.
