About this recipe: A popular Indian sweet that my friend serves during Deepavali. It's easy to make and I love them.

Serves: 10 

  • 220 g sugar
  • 90 ml water
  • 180 g ground almond meal
  • 180 g ghee
  • 1½ teaspoon rose water
  • ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • a pinch of salt
  • slivered almonds (optional)

Prep:10min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Ready in:30min 

  1. Dissolve sugar in water over low heat and then bring to a boil. Add the ground almonds, ghee, rose water, ground cardamom and salt. Stir until mixture thickens. Remove from heat and pour into a shallow dish. Sprinkle the top with slivered almonds, if you wish.
  2. Leave to cool and then cut into squares or diamond shapes.
