About this recipe: Soft with a little crunch and nuttiness, this glutinous rice cake is always my favourite. If you like glutinous rice cakes, please try this recipe. It is a good gluten-free dessert too.


Serves: 4 

  • 450 g glutinous rice flour
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • 100 g red bean paste
  • 3 eggs
  • 100 g walnuts
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds

  1. Combine glutinous rice flour, oil, sugar, eggs, milk and baking soda in a big bowl and mix well to form the batter.
  2. Pre-heat the oven to 175 degrees C.
  3. Pour half of the batter into a cake tin and place the pan in the oven. Bake for 15 minutes.
  4. Take the pan out and spread the red bean paste evenly over the semi-baked cake.
  5. Pour the remaining batter over the red bean paste. Lay the walnut and sesame seeds on the top. Return the cake tin in the oven and continue baking for 45 minutes. Cool and serve.
