Goreng Hati & Mempedal Ayam (Stir-fry Chicken Liver and Gizzard)

    A simple cheap meal using chicken offals that is delicious. Organ meats are high in minerals like iron, B vitamins, vitamin A but negatively are also high in cholesterol and therefore to be taken occasionally.

    Serves: 6 

    • 450 g chicken liver
    • 300 g chicken gizzard
    • 1 large onion, diced
    • 2 green onions, cut into 2 cm
    • 1 tablespoon turmeric powder
    • salt and pepper to taste
    • 2 tablespoon cooking oil

    1. Rinse and dry the livers and gizzards. Chop the gizzard into small bite-size pieces. Quarter the livers. Marinate with turmeric and salt and set aside for 30 minutes.
    2. Heat oil in pan until hot. Saute the onions until soft, then add the gizzard and stir-fry for about 5 minutes. Add the liver and stir-fry until it's cooked. Scatter the chopped green onions, mix well and remove from heat. Serve with steamed rice.
