    About this recipe: Seared steaks are finished in red wine and balsamic vinegar for a quick and simple dinner for two.

    Serves: 2 

    • 2 fillet steaks
    • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
    • 3 tablespoons (45ml) balsamic vinegar
    • 3 tablespoons (45ml) dry red wine

    1. Sprinkle salt and pepper over both sides of each steak.
    2. Heat a frying pan over medium high heat. Place steaks in hot pan, and cook for 1 minute on each side, or until browned.
    3. Reduce heat to medium low, and add balsamic vinegar and red wine. Cover, and cook for 4 minutes on each side, basting with sauce when you turn the meat over.
    4. Remove steaks to two warmed plates, spoon one tablespoon (15ml) of glaze over each, and serve immediately.
