    About this recipe: A simple and spicy Italian pasta sauce, with incredible flavour. Basil is not traditional in this sauce, but we like it. This sauce can be prepared ahead and kept in the refrigerator until required for a quick and easy meal idea.

    Serves: 4 

    • 4, 400g cans chopped tomatoes
    • 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
    • 1 teaspoon dried crushed red chillies or flakes
    • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
    • handful chopped fresh basil
    • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

    1. In a large saucepan, combine tomatoes, olive oil and chillies. Simmer 30 minutes or until sauce thickens. Stir in garlic, and simmer 10 minutes. Remove from heat, and stir in basil, salt and pepper.
    2. Serve over your favourite cooked pasta.
