About this recipe: This is my comforting version that we all love!


Serves: 6 

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 500g mince beef
  • 2 medium carrots, sliced or diced
  • 120g peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 4 tablespoons of tomato puree
  • 2 tablespoons freshly chopped parsley
  • 1 cup (250ml) beef stock
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 120g grated Cheddar cheese

Prep:30min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:1hr 

  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees C.
  2. Heat oil in pan, add onions, garlic and beef; cook stirring, until beef is browned.
  3. Add carrots, peas, tomato puree, parsley, stock, salt and pepper. Simmer covered for about 20 minutes or until the carrots are tender.
  4. While this is cooking, boil the potatoes, drain and mash with butter and cheese.
  5. Spoon mince mixture into an oven-proof dish. Top with mashed potatoes.
  6. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes, or until cooked through and golden brown on top.
