About this recipe: Anise cookie cooked in a loaf then sliced and toasted.


Serves: 16 

  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cup (300g) sugar
  • 1 teaspoon anise seed
  • 1 cup (125g) plain flour

  1. Preheat oven to 190 degrees C (375 degrees F). Grease and flour on 3 24cmx13cmx8cm (9x5x3 inch) loaf tin.
  2. Beat the eggs and sugar thoroughly add the anise seed then mix in the flour. Scrape dough into the prepared tin (tin will only be about 1/2 full).
  3. Bake at 190 degrees C (375 degrees F) for about 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from pan and slice into 16 slices about 1.5cm thick each. Place sliced cookies on a baking tin and bake for 5 minutes until bottom is browned, turn and bake for another 5 minutes until the other side is browned. Enjoy!
