Moowoo Namool (Radish & beef cooked side dish)

    This is a great Korean side dish, especially if you have a small bit of beef that you are not sure how to use it up.

    Serves: 4 

    • 120g (1/4 pound) beef (use a tender cut, like tenderloin, strip loin or flank)
    • 480g (1 pound) large white (Daikon) radish
    • 2 cups (500ml) water
    • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
    • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
    • 1 tablespoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon Dashida (Korean soup stock)
    • ½ teaspoon sesame oil
    • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

    1. Peel the radish and cut into thick julienne strips. Cut the beef in thick strips also.
    2. Heat a medium size pot on high heat and add the sesame oil, beef, black pepper and salt. Sauté about 8 minutes when the beef is cooked, add the shredded radish and sauté another 10 minutes.
    3. Add the sugar, Dashida and water. Mix well and cover the lid, lower the heat to medium and cook for 10-12 minutes.
