About this recipe: I'm not a big red meat eater but I love this east-meets-west steak that my father-in-law invented. Use any cut of steak you like.

Pat Central Region, Singapore

Serves: 6 

  • 1 kg flank steak
  • 180ml water
  • 60ml soya sauce
  • 60ml Shaoxing rice wine or bourbon
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar

Prep:5min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Extra time:2days marinating  ›  Ready in:2days15min 

  1. Mix all the ingredients together and marinate in a ziptop bag for two days. Flip after 1 day.
  2. Then either freeze or grill the steak to your liking. I like mine cooked medium rare.

Make ahead

The longer you marinate the meat, the more flavorful it becomes.
