Kongnamool Kuk (Bean sprouts Soup)

    Serves: 4 

    • 350g (3/4 pound) bean sprouts
    • 6 cups (1.5l) water
    • 1 tablespoon crushed garlic
    • 1 tablespoon Korean red pepper powder
    • 1 tablespoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
    • 4 green onions (cut at slant 2 inches long)

    1. Wash the bean sprouts 3-4 times in cold water and take the brown head off on bean sprouts. Place the bean sprouts in a large pot.
    2. Pour in the water and add the salt. Cover the top and cook for 20 minutes on medium heat. “Do not open the top” the smell will be bad.
    3. Add the crushed garlic, red pepper powder and black pepper and cook for 5 minutes.
    4. Lastly, add the cut green onions and cook another 5 minutes.
