About this recipe: From my childhood, this sweet soft "Chestnut soup" has always been my favorite dessert.

Serves: 3 

  • 50 gram red dates
  • 200 gram chestnut (net)
  • 75 gram sugar
  • 10 agar
  • Bowl of water

Prep:15min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:45min 

  1. Soak the agar in water until soft. Place the soft agar into the pot and heat until it melts.
  2. Place the chestnut meat into the steamer and steam until thoroughly soft. Remove from steamer and let cool. Mash into a fine paste.
  3. Clean the dates and place into the pot. Add water and cook until soft.
  4. Remove the skin and core from the dates. Mash into fine paste.
  5. Place the pot on high heat, add a big bowl of water, add chestnut paste, sugar and date paste. Cook until sugar melts. Reduce the heat to low, then add agar and stir well.
  6. Remove pot from heat. Pour the mixture into a big bowl. Let cool and place in the refrigerator. Serve cold.
