About this recipe: This fried potato cake is usually served with soto ayam dish or it can be eaten as a side with rice. You can make it vegetarian or add minced meat into the patty

Serves: 20 

  • 600g potatoes
  • 300g minced beef (optional)
  • 10 shallots, sliced thinly
  • 4 green onions, chopped
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Plain flour
  • Oil for frying

  1. Boil potatoes and mash in bowl. Saute the shallots till golden brown, drain and set aside to cool.
  2. Add the minced beef, chopped green onions, shallots, salt and pepper to the mash potatoes. Stir in the eggs and mix well.
  3. Form mixture into round patties about 4cm in diameter. Roll the patties lightly in flour.
  4. Heat oil in pan until hot and fry the patties until cooked on both sides. Drain and set aside for serving.
