Steamed Puto

    This is a delectable rice cake great as a snack served alone or with dinuguan (link to recipe).

    Ingredients
    Serves: 10 

    • 120g rice flour
    • 120g glutinous rice flour
    • 200g sugar
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 375ml (1 1/2 cups) water

    Directions

    1. In a large mixing bowl, mix both the rice flours, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the water and mix thoroughly. The batter will be thick.
    2. Fill puto molds (or small muffin molds) about 2/3 full.
    3. Steam the puto in a steamer for about 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when tested. It is delicious hot or cold.
