About this recipe: This banana blossoms dish presents a very unique use and flavor of this fruit.

Serves: 4 

  • 1/2 kg pork, diced
  • 2 banana blossoms
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 115 ml vinegar
  • 115 ml water
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. Slice banana blossoms crosswise into fine strips. Sprinkle salt and knead blossoms to express juice. Discard juice.
  2. Fry garlic in olive oil until slightly brown and saute with onion.
  3. Add diced pork, salt and pepper, mix , cover and cook 5 minutes.
  4. Add banana blossoms, vinegar and water. Cover and cook 5 minutes. Serve hot with rice.
