About this recipe: A new recipe a neighbour gave us. What a hit with my family! Just the right mix of garlic and cashews with our favorite veggie, broccoli. And so easy to make.


Serves: 6 

  • 750g broccoli, cut into bite size pieces
  • 85g butter
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar (more or less to taste)
  • 3 tablespoons (45ml) soya sauce
  • 2 teaspoons (10ml) white vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 80g chopped salted cashews

  1. Steam or boil the broccoli till tender but still crisp-about 7 mins. Drain, and arrange broccoli on a serving platter.
  2. While the broccoli is cooking, melt the butter in a small frypan or pot over medium heat. Mix in the brown sugar, soya sauce, vinegar, pepper and garlic. Bring to a boil (make sure it doesn’t burn) then remove from the heat.
  3. Mix in the cashews, and pour the garlic butter sauce over the broccoli. Serve immediately.
