    About this recipe: These are pretty unhealthy, but they're very rich and delicious...So, indulge in one (or two) and don't feel too bad about it;) If you plan on eating these with savoury food, neglect the sugar - it's just too much.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 3 

    • 1¾ cups plain flour
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • 3 eggs
    • 250g butter, melted
    • 1½ cups milk

    Directions

    1. Pre-heat the waffle iron.
    2. Whisk the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a large bowl.
    3. Separate the egg whites from the yolks beat them in a small bowl.
    4. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the beaten egg whites, yolks, butter and milk. Whisk all the ingredients together but don't overbeat them
    5. Pour the batter on the iron, covering about 70% of the grid. Cook the waffle, till steam issues from the iron (about 2 minutes...really depending on your iron) and the waffle is golden
    6. Keep the cooked waffles fresh by placing them on a tray (do not stack them) in a warm oven
