Crunchy chocolate chip cookies

Most asians prefer crunchy cookies as compared to soft cookies. This cookie is easy and fun to do with your kids and will never stay in your counter for more than a day!

    2 people made this

    • 250 grams butter
    • 2 1/2 cup all purpose flour
    • 2 tsp cream of tatar
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 1 3/4 cup icing sugar
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar
    • 1 tbsp vanilla
    • pinch of salt
    • 1 egg
    • chocolate chips (try to get the flat surface ones)

    1. Preheat oven to 175 degree celcius
    2. In a bowl, combine the flour, cream of tatar, baking soda, salt and mix well, set it aside
    3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the butter, icing sugar and brown sugar till light and fluffy; about 2 minutes. Slowly add in the egg and vanilla and continue to mix for about 1 minute
    4. wrap the dough with plastic wrap and set it in the fridge to chill for at least 1 hour
    5. roll the dough in a 25 gram ball or about a tablespoon and flatten it in a round shape onto a cookie sheet
    6. lightly place/ decorate the top cookies with chocolate chips and bake in the oven for 13 to 15 minutes or until the cookie is lightly brown
    7. leave in the cookie tray for about 5 minutes to cool down and crisp up slightly then transfer onto a wire rack to cool down thoroughly
    8. The cookies can be store in an airtight container for up to 1 week

    1. make sure that the butter is in room temperature 2. try to get chocolate chips that are flat on the surface to prevent burning of the tip of the chocolate chip 3. to make things more fun with your kids, you can always substitute the chocolate chips with some white chocolate chips or M&Ms.
