Wintermelon and barley soup

    This soup is thicker than most of our clear soups because of the addition of barley. It also is sweeter.

    • 1 handful barley
    • 2 kg water
    • 400g pork ribs
    • 300g wintermelon, cut into chunks, skin removed
    • Salt to taste


    1. Boil the barley, water and pork ribs under low heat for 1 hour.
    2. Add in the wintermelon chunks and cook for another 5 minutes. Add salt to taste. Serve.
