Sweet potato porridge (Han zi muay)
This is a dish that many people would have memories of, if they went through the second world war. Rice was in short supply so sweet potatoes were eaten instead.

1 large sweet potato, skinned and cubed
¾ cup rice
1 big bowl of water
- Place all ingredients in a pot and allow it to cook under medium heat until the rice grains split open.
- Stir to prevent rice grains from sticking on the bottom of the pot. Adjust the amount of water added accordingly depending on how you like your porridge.
