Stir-fried kana stem

    We like kana stem for its crunch. It is also usually quite sweet but take care not to buy the ones which are too old.

    Ingredients

    • 2 tbsp oil
    • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
    • 325g kana stems, skinned, sliced
    • 2 dried mushrooms, soaked until soft, sliced
    • 70g prawns, shelled
    • 50g carrots, sliced
    • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
    • ½ cup water

    Directions

    1. Oil the frying pan. Add the garlic and fry until it starts to brown under medium heat.
    2. Add prawns and fry until it turns pink. Next, add mushroom, carrot, kana stem slices, oyster sauce and water. Stir-fry for about 1 minute to mix and then cover. Allow it to boil for 2-3 minutes. Serve.
