About me

My family is from Indonesia and I was actually born in Jakarta. However, I grew up in Singapore and went to college in the U.S. where I was exposed to an even wider range of cuisines. So my culinary palette is very much an eclectic mix of cuisines, ingredients and flavours.

Favourite things to cook

bakmie ayam, quiche, stir-fries, babi kecap, braises, roast pork or chicken, pastas, cabbage and egg etc., etc.

Family cooking traditions

My mum is a fabulous cook and I've made it a point to write down recipes for all my favorite dishes. Like her, I enjoy cooking for my family and friends. There's always something cooking or baking at my house!

Cooking triumphs

Made my first successful solo attempt at baking when I was 10--the rich chocolate cake with ganache was yummy! I remmeber only baking half the recipe because I was so afraid it would be a flop. My first minestrone soup came not long after!

Cooking tragedies

Thankfully nothing major.
